Does anyone see a problem with using a piece of plastic (thick stuff - I think its from roofing) to slide in between the bottom of the power steering pump and above the alternator. Basically mine has gone the way of many Falcon alternators and has been killed by its neighbour the power steering pump. I don't think heat will be an issue but it will be resting on the bottom radiator pipe, but thats cool water anyway. The other heat thing is - how hot do the power steering fluid pipes get?
Its only because I've bought a new one and want to stop fluid getting in right from the beginning. And yes I will be repairing the leak, this is just a temporary measure.

get a new hose made up that bypasses the knuckle. I had a alternator fail on my AU and I brought a new alternator and got a new hose made. Problem solved.
