Hi guys got a prob with my car (ef 6) had the battery light coming on over the last couple days and it gave up on thursday (suspect alt) . I bought a change over (reco) alternator put that on but still have the battery light coming on and alternator is getting super hot.
Any ideas what could be wrong (fuse ???)

If you can get a multimeter check the voltage across the battery with the engine running. 13.5 to bout 14.2 or little more is ok. But to me it sounds possibly like a shorted cell in the battery, which a batt hydrometer will show. Even a cheap hydrometer will tell you if you have a dead or weak cell. Check the water too in the battery, I killed one that way myself. lol

forgot to mention the reason for changing alt was because of a p/steer high pressure hose leaking onto alt put new hose on to stop leak but alt gave up about 2 weeks later

you need to check the current draw from the alt. I'd also be checking the draw from the battery with key off.
