im wondering if i can get some aluminium timing gear wheels for my ef?
ive seen them on ricer cars and they look like they are made of anodised aluminium anyone know if i can get them?

Ricers have belt driven cam's, and I have seen there pulleys made from aluminium.
Ford have serpintine acc belts, and I have seen chrome pulleys for them but not alum (power steering, water pump, etc), do you mean those? The fords timing gear is chain driven. If that is what your talking about then no, not aluminium. The cam gear looks like this: 
Is that what your talking about? Oh - and JMM are a rip of for vernier gears. You can get the same gears at half the price elsewhere.

yep that vernier gear you are after.. but by the sounds of it you want the rice look of having it sit exposed in the engine bay..
can't be done.. the gear will only sit inside the rocker cover.. pulley gears and what not.. NFI where you get em.. the idea of the gears if to dial in. if you want to get vernier gears get the ones withthe timing notches on em..

Basically he wants a toothed gilmer belt drive set up.

ie something like this, but for all the belts.
Now im not sure what eventuated because of it, but a friend of mine who owns and runs a machining shop was looking at getting a few different types of extrusions of different sizes so he could make his own for his own cars. Basically just weld a backing plate onto the back of the extruded pulley, and then drill out the holes to bolt it up. Was trying to think up a good example of a belt drive, and then it hit me. Superchargers! 
So basically, a set of pulleys similar to those fitted to 8/71 superchargers and similar, but for standard accessorys.

Are you implying the Ford motors are better built or more powerful or better economy or easier to work on or better upgrade potential or better out of the factory or what? Have a look at the above thread. Those cam gears are rice, look above function. Keep it steel (fo real  ). Durability is something I would prefer for a component that is critical to keeping an engine from failing.

Whoa, calm down there mate. No need to get yoiur panties in a knot. I only used the term because that is what it had already been referred to as in the origional post, and I didnt want to get into the whole import vs rice thing again. I have a lot of respect for jap imports. Spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a R33 GTS-T and have nothing but respect for there speed and handling.
