yeah i heard you were doing yours fordfreak, and while i have a spare one laying around i thought id give it a go!

started of with wire brush attachment on dril
then
80 grit flapper wheel
120 grit flapper wheel
320 grit flapper wheel
400 wet
800 wet
1200 wet
then auto sole!

its all at the 320 grit stage except for the 1st runner that i finnished to see how it would come up! alot of steps and alot of time but it came out well!

Not all of it will bubble, but what doesnt hose off will wipe off with a rough cloth. If there are still stubborn bits of paint left over, repeat the process.

My manifold took 2 hrs my mate was doing a header tank as he hated the finish on a Pwr tank that took 45min to an hour( now no welds or press marks )and this weekend he will do xr6chick inlet. Then he is talking about all the brackets that are alum then the timing case and talk about plating.

I'm trying something different with the manifold we will see at Dyno day.

So i take it the rocker cover has a rough finish on it as opposed to the smooth one i was guessing it had. After the 120 grit, go 320 then 1500 then autosol.

Heres what i did to my alloy mag wheel couple days ago, 12 hours work

Yep, three coats of Septone Acrylic Gloss. It lost a little bit of shine after spraying it on, but i guess its a must.

did the same thing with my intake 9 months ago... polished the schitt out of it until it was mirror like then applied a clear coat to it to stop surface rust setting in... it also did too lose some of its shine...

I also found alloy wheel material to be ten times harder than bbm's.

It literally took 7 hours with 120 grit to get the 'dimples' out of the cast, and even then there were patches left. I rushed the last 2 grits of sandpaper cause i was sick of it by then, hence the reason why its not chrome-like.
