hi guys I put a new motor in a month or so ago and today found oil leaking from the very back of the head.. no idea why it blew maybe the motor sitting dry of coolant/oil for nearly 2 weeks cause the gasket to go brittle?? I needed to swap the heads over anyway just bloody annoying to happen so soon, motor only has 190 000k's and the owner said the gasket was swapped only a couple years ago :S hope there's not more to the problem, will be my 4th head gasket in the last 12 months sigh (first on this engine) hopefully it's the last one for a while at least.
Just a question do you guys use hylomar on the AU MLS gasket? I've heard many for and many against not sure which way to go haha |

Hi,
Before you start a big job, dont assume the worst. Clean it and have a good look. I would expect it to be the cover has been bumped in fitting, and it is leaking from the half moon section.

Ive only ever used hylomar on composite gaskets, never on mls, if your using mls, make sure that block face is clean enough that you could lick it, and get the head shaved.
