that sounds like a more serious issue than the the difference between 10w30 and 10w40.

last change i went from penrite semi synthetic 15w60 to penrite sin (fully synthetic) 15w40. this was at 130,000 km. AFAIK after 3000km dont think its burnt any oil at all. revs a lot freerer now, maybe a tad noiser at redline, but its not rattling its tits off

I don't think I have a problem, the motor has only 100000K's on it and it does not consume oil normally. It was full before the change 2 weeks ago after 15000k's. The motor is quite as a mouse (well a mouse with a 2 and 1/2" but hole) and is running with plenty of power. I put 2ltrs of 10W40 in at Albury and it has not used any since then.
