Hey guys
Last night I was heading home from a big night out (only slightly over the limit) and almost had a run-in with a roo. I was going about 110, it jumped out, i did a nice loud, smokey 360, ended up on the side of the road, no one got hurt. Problem is, now it feels like i'm rolling on a flat tyre, though they're all fine. I've been reading about breaking the belt in the tyre and it sounds like it might be close to it. It feels almost like an egg in the tyres, but I'm just wanting to know if there's anything else it could possibly be? I didn't hit anything and the whole thing happened on flat ground, so i didn't bottom out or anything. Another quick question while i'm writing: My oil pressure reading is always all over the shop, sometimes the needle shakes like crazy, other times it'll go a bit over 3/4 when accelerating and other times (when at idle) it'll drop right down to varying points - sometimes about 1/6th the metre, other times almost halfway. A few months ago it always stayed dead on halfway, then i added about 3 litres of 20w50 to top it up and it started. Anyone got any ideas on what it could be? I know the second question is always asked, but it's easier just to add to my post than search it up

Your tyres will defantly be flatspotted from the skidding which will make it feel strange. If you jack up your car and rotate your wheel look at tread depth and you will see an area with less tread which is your flatspot on your tyres.
Oil pressure switch is probably first suspect for me. The oil you are putting in also sounds a bit thick. i think a 10-40 or 15-40 should be enough a 20 seems a bit thick unless the car has heaps of kms. glad kangaroo and car and you all made it. Cheers |

Thanks man,
How can i recover from the flat spot, you think? Time for some burnouts, or do i need to fork out for new tyres?

Flat spots means new tyres. The thinest oil i would use if it is an EA would be 15w40. Seeing the engine may be getting a little old now unless its been rebuilt 20w will be fine. Check the terminal on the oil pressure sender first but its more likely to be shot.

Ah, leave me alone. I had 6 beers over about 5 hours. That's only over for a p-plater, but not a fully licenced driver IF you go by the whole 2 drinks in the first hour, one every hour after that rule. Who knows how fast i burn off the effects - i'm tall and athletic.

I actually meant it in the sense that i WASN'T p****d when it happened. Everyone's getting so cut about it. Plenty of people on here tell their stories of drinking and driving, doing illegal activities, etc. Life's all about learning lessons, I learnt my limits last night, alone and well into the early hours of the morning when it was of least danger to anyone and i'm not going to do it again.

Whatever. It is an excuse, i know i'm a tard for doing it and there's no legitimate justification. I just asked for help, not to be criticised (though i knew it was coming anyway). Can't people just be helpful and answer the question i asked? People attacking me doesn't help me much, people offering me answers to my questions does. I appreciate the advice from the guys who offered an answer to the question.

you wanted help. i think not drink driving is the best helping advice we gave you. if you knew that criticsm was cumming then why the f**k include that part in the storey?? people arnt attactking you, their trying to tell you that any booze in your blood can lead to a s**t load more problems. just imagen you hit the roo. insurance wouldnt cover you, massive fine, probly loss of liscens, on top of that regisration wont cover you for animal damage. another fine there. fair enough, you made a mistake, no harm done this time, learn from it. just be thankfull, trust me i learnt the hard way being one of those bullet proof guys saying it will never happen to me.

LOL, how the f**k are insurance not gonna cover him for hitting the roo?
And where do the fines and loss of license come from? Have the police read his mind, or did he call the cops for hitting a f**k roo? I think the bigger problem here is that you lost control in an emergency braking situation, you're lucky man, could have been alot worse.
