hey everyone. ive had plenty of problems with my car im surprised i haven't sold it yet. anywho i was driving today and suddenly the car's electrical power just cut off and then started again. usually happens when im accelerating from the traffic lights or slowing down. i checked the battery terminals and they seem to be fine. could it be a relay or a fuse that might cause this problem?

thanks

yeah like everything, my CD tuner turned off electric windows didn't work either. heater everything just turned off. but the engine was still turning, then i think it just miss fires and then comes back to normal. terminals are fine and probalby checking the fuses tomorrow. Alternator is working fine i think =S and starter motor is brand new.

yeah they might be working fine, but if the terminals arent of correctly can cause this problem. fuses would be fine id say, usualy they work or they dont not intermintant, unless u had a small fire in ur fuse box or e- box

The ECU relay doesn't control ALL the electronics. The car would just die if it was the ECU relay not going. Really strange that it's when you start/stop. Does it happen anywhere else? over bumps or something?

Cheers

yeah when i go over a speed hump, or after breaking hard and turning or a pot hole or sometimes just a little bump on the road. if its smooth road like freeway its alrite, but when i turn and come out of the turn, for a little while it would run normally but then there is a power loss to the whole car and everything just resets. the ECU does that clicking noise once, like when u leave the igniton "ON" before u turn the engine over. then i rev it a bit and it goes back to normal. i thought it might be the ECU Relay since it only happens over a bump or something.

any suggestions?

cheers

Sounds like your battery terminals are either coming loose, or the battery is just s**t? Like I said, ECU relay won't affect trip computer, heater, and all that.. that sounds like a whole voltage drop out.

Cheers

hmmm okies. well my friend just said that the ECU is sensitive to shock. and i kinda like hit it several times before by accident when the cover was off. and when i put the cover back on i was hitting the plastic screws becos they were stuffed and probably stuffed up my ECU? The battery is fine since i just got it brand new about 2 months or so ago. so i guess ill check my battery terminals tomorrow see what happens. cheers

Also checl for shorts when you check the ECU... after it does it, have a smell, and see if you smell anything burning, because the positive suddenly catching onto the negative in a car could also do what you are describing.

Try rock the car around in ignition also, and see if anything happens.. if it's something which is caused by shock, then something is loose, or out of place.

Good luck

ive cleaned the terminals and ive started the car and gave the car a bit of a shake but the car still runs. i started tapping the relay really hard sideways and up and down and car still ran
so nothing
so i decided to reset the ECU and see what happens when i go for a drive now. if it still happens its gotta be some loose wiring?

cheers

have you checked where the battery connects to the chassis, this can come loose and if it does all cicuits are disconnected, and would give you that symptom of everything turning off.

Yeah, Im pretty surprised I was up that early aswell.. lol.

And yeah, definately check the ground.. that is what I meant really. But yeah, just check all the connection, try starting the car, and pulling on some wires and stuff... if you can make it do the same thing, you know what the problem is.

Cheers
