Is it just me or has every1 not really read what he wrote, he said he is in a EBII stock computer and it is an auto and he is in 3rd gear hitting 210km/h.
There is something wrong with that story because in my car i have 3rd gear and at 5,000rpm im doing just over 180km/h, i can rev mine 2 about 5,400rpm when it then hits the limiter so there is no way you could hit 210 in 3rd gear!!!

Did any1 else not pick this up???

Cheers

His speedo is way out. Chances are his gbox came out of a EA with 2.92:1 diff ratio and hence speedo gear to match.

its not all that hard to disable the speed limiter, the signal has to be intercepted and passed on to the ECU, when you hit say 170, a new signal has to be synthesized thats stays at 170 and passed on, the untouched signal needs to go to the instrument cluster.

but its there for a reason, as datamine found out for all of us.

Or, if your car is manual you can just unplug the VSS wire :)

Also worth noting that the EB/ED V8's dont have a rev limiter! :)

Interesting that you say this cause I have never hit the limiter in my EL V8.....wondering if they have no rev limiter either, but i reckon i've reved it out to about 6200rpm or thereabouts and still haven't hit it

my first EA falcon i had to around the 210 mark or so.. it was a 5 speed.... and it was a series I

then found out about tail shafts.. and how they like to shatter at anything over 180.. (hence the limiter).. but a mate with a series II EA... had a limiter on his... also a 5 speed

my brother has an ea fairmont ghia ser II, when it was auto it would hit 174km/h time after time until one day the car coughed, bachfired then stalled, re-started while rolling and from then on it went higher, every time after it would get higher and higher until it went off the digital speedo at 3700 rpm's and we pushed to 4300 rpm's meaning around 235km/h. We have done this hundreds of times over the last 5 years with no problems with tail shaft etc including with full car ( only once ). With new manual conversion it gets there even quicker although mild vibration starts at 120 and is gone by 180.

If only I had seen that tailshaft post before my 210 in the car, I didn't believe that the shaft could be that thin, so I climbed under the car, and to my suprise, it sounded like a coke can when i flicked it, not worth doing that kind of speed again

i have had my car on jacks doing 220km/h on the speedo, but on the road it limits at 180? can anyone explain that,. maybe the same situation as regie?

220 up on jacks?? wtf?

a dyno is just like a rolling road though

a mate of mine has a bog-stock el futura, he had the speedo reading 210 just by mashing the go pedal to the floor on wet pavement.

The speed limiter is a half fuel cut (injector timing is halved). so only half power is being made, on a road/loaded dyno it should slow you down, if there's no load the wheels will still accelerate.
