been done thousands of times, BUT, you have 3 options.

1.So a search for the resistor trick, it will be in resources
2.You can use an EF manual ECU, has to be EF though
    3.get a J3 with a manual tune on it

Any of these will be suitable for what you are doing.

Search is your friend or have a look in the Technical Documents forum...there is a thread in there with a pdf file to show you all that you need. I can't be a*** looking for it sorry.

Get a j3 chip. I think it is $110 with a stock tune on it and you plug it in and just forget about the auto loom. So simple and if you ever want to go back to auto means you aren't stuck with a cut up loom.

If you ever want to go back to auto you can plug the auto loom back in and pull the j3 with the manual tune out...

Example 1: I stick a turbo on my car and blow my t5 to pieces and don't have enough money to get a tko or t56.
Example 2: I tow s**t all the time and didn't realise my clutch would wear out so much.
Example 3: I drive in f**k traffic every day and am sick of having a hercules style left leg from my heavy cable clutch.
Example 4: I want to be able to fingerbang my gf while driving, rather than shifting gears.

The other reason you don't wanna cut up your loom is because it looks bad if you are trying to sell your car. Not sure what your car looks like and granted falcons aren't worth a lot, but if I see some tight a** has done the resistor trick I figure he has been a tight a** with the rest of the car.

Oh right. Fair call(s). Other than fingerbanging. Just let her drive....

Nah. This shows someone has spent time and effort researching and knows a bit about their car. Would you buy a fairly factory car from a guy who didn't know much, or similar from a guy who at least knew enough to do a manual swap himself?

I'd by the manual swap at home car... Same reason I was never shy to buy ex-race vehicles (back in the day when I had more than six cents in my bank account....)

If someone shows aptitude for working on the vehicle, chances are that problems have been fixed as they have become apparent.... And maybe you'll find some good s**t later, like after market parts that are worth while hanging onto....

Each to their own - I would never use it personally because it is cutting corners, so I wouldn't buy a car off someone who has. Personal belief that where there is a better alternative use it.

I only buy factory cars from those who look after them.

Anyway this doesn't really relate to the OP's question. Back on topic...

What happens if your soldering fails/otherwise shorts? What happens if the ecu s**t itself?

J3's generally don't just s**t themselves, I think both of those previous two points are more likely to occur first...

If you're that worried get a Manual ECU - then you only have to worry about the ECU dying

I got lucky and was able to swap the manual ecu I got with my conversion for the correct one.
