aparently jim mock has cams for these motors ?? has anyone tried one??
Does any one know if any one in perth does cams for these motors??
or just custom grind them ???

if you're looking for custom grinds, sure cams may be worth a shot - johno (SVO XR6) had one done for his XR - and seems very happy with it.

edit: they're in QLD by the way...

not especially - a group of guys just got a pile of cams over from wade & installed them themselves - from what i'm told its not too hard a job - you mechanically minded? :P

yeah suppost i've rebuilt a 250 crossflow b4 (xf motor) but 1 problem my motor is a hybrid and aparently no ordinary el stg 2 cam will fit????
got any suggestions on these motors about cams??

basically it is an EL block with an AU head incl cam

so it's easy you use AU cams. the only real difference is the rocker ratio

No you don't.

arm79 tried that and it made his car run like a bucket of piss.

I tried emailing crow cams about it but they never bothered replying.

ok so we are talking about an EF bottom end with a complete AU head.
so the head flows like an AU head and the bottom end is still a 4L
and the aftermarket AU cam doesn't run it. does any one els see how stupid that is.


the thing is the same wade stg2 cam runs fine in EA to EL. but the heads are very different between modles. yet a cam designed for an AU head doesn't run righ in an AU head.


want a fix for it. Get some pre hybrid rocker gear. then the normal wade 1004 grind will work. no reason why it wouldn't

as far as i know it does.

it would seem strange to change the mountings on the head for no reason

nope.

Different sized/shape ports and locations apparently.

Its not a straight swap, EA-EL is 2:1 ratio and EL(hyb)-AU is 1.8:1 anyway.

like tickford_6 said, only way you would make e-series gear fit in a hybrid would be to replace the top with a pre-hybrid ef/el head. bottom end is otherwise the same.

Apparently its not quite as simple as throwing a cam into an AU like you can in the E-series according to jmm.

The hybrid cam might have special lobe profiles etc which makes it run properly based on the rest of the EL engine, throwing a cam which is sort of designed for that engine into it doesn't mean its going to work.

Maybe the EL ECU can't handle a genuine AU cam properly.. i.e. the fuel and timing maps aren't designed around the AU cam. Again this assumes the EL/AU cam isn't a generic series 1 AU cam tho.

I don't know if its ever been stated or verified by ford that the hybrid heads are 100% AU (i.e. a direct swap from the assembly line) or if they are a mixture of EL and AU parts to make the head.

If its say 20% EL and 75% AU with 5% custom components to make it all fit together then theres any number of things which could stop an AU cam working in it properly....


I've emailed crow again about the 2232549 profile, they didnt bother replying to me last time tho.

Got a reply back from ray at crowcams.

2232549 cams can be used in the hybrids but it needs a chip.

they said chiptorque (because its piggyback) in the email but I guess any aftermarket ECU would do.
