G'day, im just wondering if shiftkits are legal. I have had one in my car for nearly a year now. I wonder what a cop would do if he sore you taking off from the lights an ya car goes into 2nd with a nice chirp. If your getting a road worthy will they tell you to take it out?
Cheers

its not illigal to have 1, but if u chirp the tyres, the cop could possibly try to impound your car.

I put mine into a box and made a pedal attachment so that the whole lot sits under my left foot. I push it down like a clutch and it engages the shift kit. As soon as I release it, it turns off again.
I get the best of both worlds (in my humble opinion...) Flooring it up hills = putting left foot down too... Unless you're flooring it, the auto trans slides into gear quite nicely without the shift kit speed... Over here in NZ they only have "sustained loss of traction" laws that I would debate a "chirp" isn't. |

If im turning though and it changes into 2nd the back kicks out pretty hard.

Either turning at full lock in the wet or applying a little too much right boot huh? Never mind, I quite appreciate your efforts to get the a** end stepping out - it's one of the great things about rear wheel drives.... Motorbikes, 3 wheelers, cars, trucks... How good do they look (and feel) getting a bit sideways under acceleration. One of the great things to teach young drivers I think. Stick them in a long wheelbase, on a greasy off camber corner and tell them to floor it. "You get the hang of spinning the steering wheel back and forwards quick son, you're starting to make me cup of tea move off the dashboard..."... Oh - just noticed all this ------------ whole engine rebuild Paci comps, 2.5 catback, S\S highflow cat 3" mandrel bent intake, SS inductions Big mouth snorkle, K&N filter Wade 1502au cam, Crowcams Vernier Gear, 3.08 LSD, adjustable shiftkit, |138.0rwkw|------------ Maybe that helps with the rear end stepping out a bit too? 3.08 LSD? Really? !! |

just a question been looking at these for a while and how hard are these to instal and in nsw any noise made from the tires can be considered reckless driving and hence is illegal. However for just a little chirp you'd have to find a real prick of a cop

Or Panthers security.. Mate got his Skyline impounded after chirping it over a speed bump in the wet 2 years ago. Security forwarded the tape onto the police.
