Yes they are supposed to be open if the cam and rocker gear is still attatched, but do NOT put the cylinder head face down whilst the valves are open or you may damage them.

Yes you can use them...no need to change the EB cams over. Just make sure when you put the head back on, that everything is set at TDC...so head at TDC (camshaft sprocket notch level with head) and balancer is aligned with TDC mark on the casing. When moving the crank, make sure th chain doesn't get caught and break some guides if it's all still attached.

Should be able to just pull the PVC valve out...it just slots in. The rubber grommet is not part of the PVC.

Some people say to spray Hylomar on it and some don't. Just personal preference really, however make sure both surfaces of the head and block are REALLY clean...so no oils/dust/grit etc. I used Kerosene to remove all the oily stuff and then some acetone on a rag to dry it up. Worked a treat.

I dont use kero to clean the surfaces, I use Brakleen or shellite in a squirtey bottle as these dont leave a residue (supposedly). As for the head - cam - rockers, what ever you decide to do re cam selection, just make sure you keep your rockers and heads paired up as they were. Also, If you have to turn the crank, make sure the intermediate shaft is turning too. Try not to jump teeth down there cos if you do your day will get longer... Best to set it all up at TDC before you pull it all apart.

Kerosene to remove oily stuff...acetone to remove the left over s**t. If all fails...brake cleaner.

oh s**t....guys i think i have a dilemma here... i took my head off with out setting my engine to tdc. usually do just slipped my mind this time didnt think much of it proceeded to take the head to the machine shop to be shaved and new valve stem seals. got it back all valves where flush when i got it back. didnt think to much of it i assumed when i put the cam in and torque the rocker gear down it would push the valve back to where the were.. is this the case if not how do i fix my my problem cheers kyle

Fit the camshaft wherever it lines up with the cam sprocket, then put the engine to TDC, make sure all the timing marks are in the correct position, then install the rocker gear, then you should be in bussiness.
