Gday guys,
This is just a post to save everybody else the hassle.
BOSCH do not make a distributor for the 6 cylinder falcons.
They havent made them for at least 2 years.
I have spoken to many people to find this out. The guy i spoke to at BOSCH has told me that BOSCH Germany had cancelled the production of this unit and had stopped all operating machinery for it as well.
They have been attempting to re-start the manufacture of the distributors once again but this has been going on since September 2009. The machines now need to be rebuilt to begin manufacturing but this seems quite distant as the ETA's for the arrival of new BOSCH distributors has changed more times than my underpants. I also spoke to 3 other guys from different BOSCH resellers and have been told the same information from all of them.
This should clear up anybody's queries about the availibilty of BOSCH distributors in the near future.
If you happen to find a NEW GENUINE BOSCH distributor, hold on to the thing as its probably worth a bit!

The companies i spoke with:

Bursons Automotive Parramatta NSW
Inject-A-Carb Toowoomba QLD
Bosch Australia Automotive Parts Department Clayton VIC

Cheers

Sam

Best bet is to probably reco a second hand unit.
Replace the bush (Dist Bush is XD12120A from Ford , around $8-$10).

This is pretty annoying as the replacement non genuine ones are s**t and can strip the AUX shaft

Gezza - Exactly why i spent so much time hunting, as i am sure im having issues with my aux shaft and replacing it with an aftermarket unit will do literally f**k all as i will have to replace it again later when the crappy aftermarket one breaks (which it will)
However, the fella i was talking to from Automotive Service Solutions said since they started putting FORD TFI modules on the aftermarket dizzy instead of the cheap chinese ones they havent had any reports of failures with the dizzys

Cheers

Sam

The distributors are not hard to rebuild, bushes are available, and so are bosch TFI modules. J

Its more the aux shaft that im worried about. Because the chinese gears are made of steel not alloy they arent going to last. And unfortunately you cant get those parts from bosch anymore

Cheers

Ford used to make spares to cover a 10 year use/ownership period, after that they just scrapped any spares. My mate who is the spare parts manager at Harrigan Ford told me this when I was looking for front & rear shocks for my XG OutBack ute. Can't get any genuine Ford shocks anywhwere. :(

actually the genuine gear is steel also..
what i did find when the aux gear died in my last engine, was the gear on the aftermarket dizzy was not straight and had a slight wobble when the dizzy was rotated, which caused meshing issues and chewed the aux gear out..
the aftermarket dizzy them selves are ok, just the quality of the gear is poor..
so worse case you can swap a good gear from a genuine dizzy or a gear from an au oil pump drive and put it on the aftermarket dizzy...

True that Troy.
The Bosch ones switched to an alloy one (as i was told by BOSCH) just before they stopped making them.
The aftermarket ones shouldnt be too bad as long as you make sure they are alligned perfectly before letting it wear in.
With your aux shaft Troy, was it moving up and down at all? Or was it just a misallignment that caused it to fail?

Cheers

Sam

I worked at a Ford dealership years ago. Ford pay the dealers to " Destroy & Scrap" listed old stock on the shelves, be it panels, glass, engine parts, tranny parts, suspension parts, etc.
It is a fvcking crying shame......the bean counters run the company, not Enthusiasts.

the aux shaft in the block didnt move up or down, it was the misalignment of the dizzy gear that killed mine...
