Yes, the AU's do have longer main cap bolt holes.
But they also used both types of girdle in the photo that I took. I always thought that the earlier type girdle was the 2 piece used with caps with longer bolt holes. The one piece girdle I have actually has a BA part number, and I was told it was for late AU and BA's. But yes I agree that it would be only for smoothness, rather than strength. Even though an AU engine without the sump and girdle is almost BA smooth as it is. |

How thick is the BA girdle+windage tray?? are the AU Bolts long enough for both the BA one and the one-piece AU girdle??
Is the BA Windage tray still close enough to the crank with the AU one piece under it?? Thanks David

Can a AU or BA windage tray be fitted to E series without the girdle, i am only looking for oil control not strength.

High Energy do a SuperPan for the I6, that comes with a windage tray and crank scraper built in. Probably easier/neater than modding a OEM part, and you dont have to piss around with the main cap bolts. Just FYI.

High Energy's quality has seemed to deteriorate in the last 2 years. My old man used their product a couple of years ago and it was and still is fantastic, but in the last year have heard a heap of reports of bad/faulty welds.

Thanks guy's, i dont know how much the High Energy sump would cost but I am guessing a lot. I dont mind and are capable of modifying a OEM part to suit, any one got a picture of the windage tray by itself not fitted with the girdle.

As above its not a Gridle its a windage tray - metal is too thin to act as girdle - I have a Custom Made Girdle on my Hemi 6cyl and it would be useless if it was that thin
Here is a pic with it in production - no stud holes cut yet High Energy SUPER PAN HE2004 5.0L EA-EL, XR-8 Super Pan (custom) $533.56 HE2016 EA-EF Falcon 6 Cyl Super $346.30* * Indicates Customer must supply own core oil pan

Thanks DRHEMI, That clears a few things up, I did actually think the one in the pictures was a girdle with a windage tray underneath, now I can at least start my search at the wreckers and not look like a complete idiot.
