When you removed the shims, did you fit them the right way round?

No you can't run HLA's without the shim.

whats the installed height of the springs? compared to the au springs? there is a bloke on one of the facebook pages with the exact opposite problem. I think, E series cam and rockers in an au head, but his is ticking its head off and has excessive clearance

I also took all the shims out last night, and fitted the rocker gear without shims, and its perfect.. all compression is back, winds over well by hand, aside from the struggle with the gain of compression lol..
and the HLA's are no longer fully compressed, and have room to pump up..

but unfortunately im forced to pull it back out again and put my xr cam back in because I cant run without shims..

haha, just my luck hey :p

im gonna get some coin together and do the HG on my hybrid engine and drop the cam in that,
in saying that its alot of hassle for a cam... might be easier to sell it and get a eseries cam.. dunno whats on the cards yet.. pride and joy is really pushing its luck lately haha..

Get an AU head and get some work done on that and fit that up.

would love to but I dont have the coin to go extreme, sparring $300 for the HG on the hybrid is hard enough after the purchase of the cam at this point in time.

You will need Heavy Duty Valve springs for that Cam as well and you will need to get the head skimmed plus a MLS Head gasket. $300 is not covering that.

permaseal mls headgasket + top end gaskets + head bolts, 180 off ebay,
head skim, can get that done for $60,
valve springs, original owner ran it on stock au engine, stock springs and said it ran fine, and was hitting 6k rpm, his engine was still making power then, had his limiter set at 6100,

I may give cms a call and see how much the stage 2 package would be without the cam.. obviously I wouldnt need it..

its tax time so we will see how far the budget will allow..

any recommendations on who to speak to at CMS?
