my son is currently installing an au engine into an ed,looks like there will be bonnet clearance issues.
am I correct in this?or not? if so, which bonnet is needed to fit. converted au back to log manifold and
ed dizzy. thanks in advance.

did you use the ED mounts? from what have read here it should fit without any mods

with fitting the ED dizzy did you fit the gear from the AU? otherwise you will most likely destroy the aux shaft

good luck

You should have no issues with bonnet clearance with the AU engine.

Have you fitted the Gearbox mount?

As Mad2 said, use the gear from the AU Oil Pump drive onto your ED Dizzy, that way the gears are matching, lessens the chance of Aux Gear stripping and stuffing the engine.

thanks for reply mad2. son has used ed mounts, although he didn't switch the gear for dizzy. gearbox mount done up.clutch pedal really hard & tight,{wasn't before}possibly the selector fork misaligned?. son was eager beaver ,pulled apart without looking at everything properly.

See my build thread in Sig... Worked fine, cleared the K frame and bonnet... I noticed too that my clutch cable had to be adjusted all the way one way after putting the AU motor in... Something must be different... I also used the AU bellhousing on my ED T5...

Cheers,
Tim

You fitted the log manifold you said?

The map sensor which on the firewall goes onto it's own barb on the inside of the manifold about 3/4 of the way back...

There is a vac tree in the rear of the manifold has 3 hoses, one large one to the booster, a small one to the heater control (goes through the firewall) and one onto the fuel reg on the rear of the fuel rail...

If none of these seem to be it then you can snap a photo and show us and that will help immensely...

Cheers,
Tim

one of the skinny pipes goes to the back of the inlet manifold, there's a 3 pronged pipe there. don't remember color sorry

The hook pipe there runs from the rear of the rocker cover to the air filter side of the butterfly in the throttle body... Usually a barb there... If the small hose goes through the firewall it is the heater box vac supply, where it goes through a dark green one does too? Dark green goes to heater tap, black goes to vac tree on the rear of the manifold...

Cheers,
Tim
