G'day guys, I guess I will first introduce my self (since this is my first post) my name is Daniel but call me Dj I like it better.

Anyway I have been a member for a while, but have only been reading it and not contributing. But getting on to topic... here it goes

My EBII GLI just blew a head gasket again!!! and it already had a rear main leak, noisy lifters etc. and I have been reading about all of these AU i6 engine conversions, and I have a few questions.

I know there is some info out there in other threads but I need to know some stuff I couldn't find out.

this is what I have gathered so far.
the au engine will fit in my car using the EB engine mounts
ill have to grind the fins off the front of the sump off to fit within the K frame
I can use my EB ecu on the engine if I use my EB manifolds.

But I need to know the following please
what is involved in modifying it to use a single drive belt? do I need new accessories or can I change the pulleys?

also what do I need to do to run thermos?

also what is involved with making the au engine run on my EB dizzy?

is everything else compatible with the new engine?... trans etc

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Dj

off the top of my head i'd say belt tensioner to suite the type of manifold your running (if eb log type then XG/XH i believe), accessories with the right pulleys, and an ef onwards balancer.

Fans, relays, temperature switch

Just pull the sequencer out and put the dizzy in (dont remove/drop the oil pump drive shaft).

not 100% but compatible enough to work fine

You could use the Ef-au style manifold with EL ECU and that way you won't need the XH ute tensioner/air con spacer?

Also you may to have to modify/bend the front crossmember of the K-frame to get clearance, on mine the sump still *just* touched the crossmember even with the ribs grinded flat
