Hi there, all. I've got a tyred old el with a bit of a slightly younger engine in it. 720,000 klms younger, to be close.
It is now running an intech AU engine.
The conversion was a relatively easy one to execute, if there's anyone else out there looking at possibly doing the same. I drove into garage, and 4 days later i drove out with LOTS more power.

If anyone wants some pointers regarding the conversion, drop me an e.mail.
Cheers, Paul.

Couldn't of cost too much either I guess. Seeing as I'm only just about to hit 127 000km, I'll wait a while till I get myself an AU engine, lol. Did they all come in that green? :/

looks to me like it is a factory gas au i6... explains the "green" rocker cover which is only factory fitted to lpg falcons... plus it also has the "lpg mixer in the side of the engine bay which is also a 'giveaway'...

So just how much power did you pickup, I'm putting an AU motor in mine very soon.

This was a factory gas motor, hence the green rocker cover...

Wasnt standard, was a dedicated gas motor, so this one should have hardened valves and seats..

This engine is basically now an el. engine, just sounds like an au!! i've used all ancelleries off the el 4.0, and used the engine and gearbox harness off the el, so its now running a distrubitor.
The engine was 750, the alternator was 100, the sump cut and shut was 80, the au bellhousing was 20, and there were other little things here and there.
The biggest issue was getting the knock sensor hooked up, as it's totally different, mounting and wiring.

If you compare it to my old 4.0- its a monster!!! if i compare it to my cousins ef, its about the same. thats on gas, on petrol its quite a bit faster.

When you want to put your motor in yours, you can give me a quick personal message through here, and i'm happy to help out as much as i can..

Why did you need an AU bellhousing, did the EL one not fit?
Cheers.
