After a long absence from fordmods, i have purchased a 00 fairmont ghia with the vct engine. while 168 kw is a fair bit of grunt, im after more. has anyone done work to these before? if so what should i expect, and what sort of cash am i looking at?
also, the stereo is bothering me. whilst the premium package is good, im after a bit more oomph- and i dont want to let my subs, amps and headunit sit and waste away... anyone had any experience here? the stockie cd unit is a double DIN unit, and has a wierd faceplate. is there anyone who makes replacement plates for single or double DIN non stockie plates? cheers all Janek

you might want to check out Jim Mock in altona im a skeptic at the best of times but after reading a s**t load of articles and checking a number of forums i finally took the plunge. I got an extra 25 kW at the back end just from the chip and yes it can be felt, it wants to break traction even on well kinda easy starts hehe, by that i mean take off normal then plant the foot, thats why im going in for the exhaust next.
But yeah give him a go you get dyno figures before and after any work and none of them are in freaken b/s shootout mode although it would be interesting to see what that would show lol |

this "chip" wouldnt be just the resistor to fool the map sensor would it?
also, i want to bugger off the 180 speed limiting chip, somehow i doubt a thrash at wakefield will be too accommodating at a 180 limit :S
