I have recently blown the head gasket on my EL more the 2nd time in 6 months. So i have gone for the AU MLS gasket this time. But does any one know what the torque of the head bolts should be for this gasket? And do i need to use any sealent on the gasket? last thing, do i need to get AU head bolts or can i just use EL ones? whats the difference?

AU Gasket Torque Settings.
1st stage:30Nm 2nd stage:further 120degrees No Sealant on the gasket, Both surface to be miraculously clean, use RTV blue sealant around the timing cover seal and chain area. EA-AU bolts are the same at MOST retailers, you ask for EL they'll give you AU bolts. These have Higher Threads and larger integral washers, Most boxes state to grind the rocker towers or bolt heads to fit EA-EL. Clean the block bolt holes, get an angle grinder and slit a bolt its full thread length and screw it in every hole. or use an air compressor. Never use a wire wheel on a engine deck to clean. use a blade and CRC gasket remover. and if you must 'sand' make sure you use a solid object behind it.

dont need to use sealant, but i always use Hylomar spray, on any engine build.
Dont run any coolant (use water only) for a couple of days |
