Okay so I got a few questions!
I want to put an au head onto my ef xr6 block. Is there any advantage, I have heard the au heads have bigger valves, is this true? Is it just a straight swap over? I have an ef stage 3 cam I want to put in it to, will the cam work in the au head, I think I have to put ef rockers in it to, is this correct? Cheers! |

Okay so I got a few questions!
I want to put an au head onto my ef xr6 block. (A) Why would you? Is there any advantage, I have heard the au heads have bigger valves, is this true? (A) AU Valves are the same dia as the XR Valves, Stems are smaller Dia. I see no adavantage of the AU Head over the EF Head. Is it just a straight swap over? (A) Yes it is if you want. AU Cam must be used with the AU Rockers and head. I have an ef stage 3 cam I want to put in it to, will the cam work in the au head, I think I have to put ef rockers in it to, is this correct? (A) Many answers on this one. Heard of it being done and working, also heard of it not working. I haven't done it and I wouldn't bother. I believe that the Valve stem lengths are different as are the Valve Springs. Last edited by SWC on Thu Feb 19, 2015 5:46 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Thanks man, Starting to get a head gasket leak, so I thought I'll go au head if it has bigger valves, but no point clearly! So I'm better of just doing a head gasket and running the au head gasket, and putting the cam in my xr head then?

Just make sure you get your head checked for cracks and corrosion and if its cracked your better off getting another head and in my opinion the au heads are the only ones worth using because they dont seem to have the cracking or corrosion issues of the earlier heads.
