the heater on my Au doesn't get hot,only warm...
I've changed the thermostat but that hasn't changed anything what should i look at or replace?

I would look at flushing the system and new coolant also, check the heater tap, these can cause trouble and last but not least, there is a flap in the heater that could be broken.
The coolant flsuh and heater tap are the easiest to start with. |

so how do i change the heater tap?

if its the same as ef, it should be directly under the intake manifold to the rear. Easy to spot, just undo the hose clamps and replace. Its a good opportunity to replace the thin water hoses, as mine cracked earlier in the year.
