Hi. I'm in a very slow and painful process of putting an AU XR6 HP motor into my EF, aswell as a T5 and I have some questions.
Firstly- I want to keep the stock ECU (albeit with resistor mod) so should I just hook up the EF manifold (with AU injectors) to the AU motor?
Secondly, using the reistor mod will I experience any of the following:
- higher idle rpm
-dull response compared to manual ECU
- any anomalies compared to manual ECU
Finally, what do I do about the serpentine/accesories will the Au engine take the EF belt/set of acc's?
Thanks.

You will need the AU bellhousing if you wan't an exact fit assuming the T5 did not come with the motor. If it did then you will need to modify the tailshaft and cut the trans tunnel.
You will need to use the EF Upper or modify the AU one to refit your IAT and MAP connection. Next you will need the AU Alternator or custom up some new brackets. You will also need to modify (shorten) the AC compressor spacers and lastly you will need to change the plugs on the knock sensor and coil pack and retrofit the CAM angle sensor.

Thanks for the reply.

don't mean to take over, but i'm looking at doing the AU convert for my EF as well, i'm getting a complete AU engine with modded sump, i have a T5 does this mean i too will have to get a new bell housing and also can i just take my engine out and put the AU in and it's all good? or do i have to use some of the Acc of the EF?

Cheers
Acidic

dunno why you have to mod the tailshaft??? EF-EL tailshafts fit in AU's on the Auto

dont they have the same shaft as a EB?????

Same with my exhaust got that off an EF... perfect fit up

you might be surprised by the number of under body parts that fit from EA-AU.... I would check before I bought bits from a wrecker and save some dough

ACIDIC -> who is modifying your sump, and how much did it cost?

Im looking at the same (AU -> EF) here.

If E series and AU are the same length then no problem you need an AU manual shaft. E series Auto and Manual are the same length as the AU Auto boxes, the AU manual is about 50mm longer.

on EA-EB only have to grind off the front ribs of the sump to get a little clearance, EF-L they revised the K-frame so you need a modded sump

Yep - got that - wanted to know who did the sump mods (esp. around sydney), and if I needed to take the sump off the engine or not

Can anyone answer my questions about the ECU? Yes I've done a search and I appreciate the gearbox responses im keeping the EB bellhousing. Did auto and manual ef's have the same final drive? it is critical i get the ecu questions answered though. Thanks.

just put on the EF manifold as it is, dont put in the AU injectors as it has a different spray pattern I am led to believe.

im using a tricked (resistor mod)el ecu in my ea and it works fine!
but it did hold the revs alitle at first but once the ecu learnt it was good.
it doesnt idle high now and the car responds good!..

if you can find a manual ecu that would be better..
