will a balanced standard AU I6 bottom end put up with 7500rpm and 10:1 compression ratio ?

How long do you plan on keeping it at 7500rpm?

its for speedway, it will only peak near the end of the straights for about 4 seconds every 5 seconds

Give it a go dude... i know the top end would have no chance lol (springs)

The bottom as far as i know can take 6500 all day 7500 will be a challenge :P

dry sump it otherwise it'll starve for oil.
what other mods do you plan for?

7500 rpm is a big ask for a stock bottom end. What would be the piston speed at that???? more than what stock pistons could handle. Don't if the std rods would handle that rpm either. Would need a really good balance too.

i was thinking of dry sumping it, the cam's rpm range is 4000-8000 using adjustable solid rockers and all the usual head work, 390 4bbl holley, EDIS with megajolt, pro timing set, vernier gear ect, i was hoping to get away with just a balance on the bottom end, i might have to work out the piston travel/speed ans see what i work out. last seasons X-flow i built revved well into the sixes and still wanted to pull, the bottom end was basically standard. looks like more researching i want to get stuck into it ASAP.

the crank will be fine. but the rods will let go very fast.
do the rules let you change internal components? if so any of the good XR6T rods will go that far. the atomic skinny rods have been proven at the rpm and most others should do it too. you'd also need to look at running a looser bearing clearneces. your biggest problem is going to the cam drive setup.

its opens mate i can run what ever i like hence the reason for wanting a motor that goes super hard, what probs will i have with the cam drive set up ?

well if the car is for track only, not only would dry sumping it be a good safety measure but there are significant power advantages too.

you find find keeping the guides in one peice will be the problem, the length of chain, the lift of the cam and pressure of the valve springs and high rpm will put alot stress on the guides and chain

thats why thay make performance chains mate, i dont really see that as a problem. i am more concerned about the cam dowel shearing.

Personally I'd give it a go. If you can do removal/reinstall yourself, another bottom end with only cost you a few hundred from the wreckers.

it's not the chain you shoud be worried about. it's the chain guides that will be the problem

every component in the engine can be treated & harden. theres a extra 500 or so RPM gain from a lighten flywheel, another 800 or more safe RPM gain from a full balance on the bottom end.
