Hello all,

I have been happily reading the posts in the 6 Cylinder Workshop now for a while and have decided to install the AU XR8 snorkel just to see what happens. I have ordered the part from my local Ford dealer ($35) and was wanting a part # from you guys to make sure that I am getting the correct part (I noticed that he wrote BA then the part #!!)

With the help in the forums, i have fixed my yellow headlights, changed spark plugs/leads, fuel and air filters, fixed the low coolant sender with some epoxy (thanks for that a $60 saving!), cleaned the ICS unit though its still idles a bit crap when cold, and am now thinking about getting extractors and a 2 1/2 exhaust fitted!

Good on you guys for sharing your experience with us, its well worth the effort!

when you order a au xr8 snorkle from ford they will give you the ba xr snorkle instead as the au one is obsolete.
but it is exactly the same but it doesnt have the tickford wings on it..

Yep, AU3 XR8 snorkels are obsolete and the BA item is the replacement. Only difference is the Tickford logo on the AU part.

To fit it to an EF, you'll need to trim the front edge of it back by about 5-10mm, and drill 2 new holes in your radiator support panel. Other than that, it fits perfectly.

I sold one on ebay recently, and the guy thought that it was a tight fit, and was paranoid about the extra pressure that it would put on surrounding components such as the airbox, radiator hose etc. But honestly, while it is a bit of a tight fit, it fits well, and won't negatively affect anything.

Yeah, EL GT fits straight in, but an AU3 XR8/BA XR6T is a bit bigger, and cheaper from Ford as well. I know, I had both at one stage.

Hi all,

Just an update: Snorkel went in no probs.
Throttle response seems better generally :)

Except that now, reverse has gone in the auto :(
I know thats got nothing to do with the snorkel

Bugger it....hopefully its just a seal or something as it goes forwards ok. It was leaking fluid yesterday though.

$1700 later for a full rebuild on the auto and its all sweet :p
Apparently some bearings had collapsed somewhere for reverse so I just decided on a full reco and be done with it.

Hopefully it should last for a while...
