Ive been reading the techincal documents on here about au motors being put into e series falcons, it was talking about having to put a distributor on the motor the run the ea gear. I was just thinking if you had an EF or EL ecu which plugs into the ed loom i know, couldnt you still run the coil packs instead of a distrubutor? just curious. Anyone have any ideas???
Cheers, Greenie

In an EF this would work.
The EF/AU use the same ECU connector (EEC-V 100+ pins) but EL are 80 pin (EEC-IV connector, except Ford modified an EEC-V to run distributor/80 pin in EL's) same as EA-D. An EF Ecu won't plug into an EA-ED or an EL. So no, you have to use a distributor, or change the whole car to EF looms (and probably easiest to do the dash conversion at the same time if doing that) |

only EF and AU run coil packs, EA, EB, ED and EL all run a distributor. an EF ECU will not plug into an EA, EB, ED or EL, and neithier will an AU one, so in order to do it, you'd need to change the whole car to EF or AU looms, EF would be easier than AU, but still be alot of mucking around, and a step backwards in my opinion, I like the distributor setup better as it has more tuneability for example to run a higher octane fuel like 98 or LPG. The best management setup you could easily run in my opinion would be EL XR6 management, but any EL management will do, of course, you'll need to source some bits off an EL engine to run it.
