Hi SWC,

I have run into a few problems, I have not cut my a/c spacers, or bolts, and I'm using a standard AU serpentine belt, and it all works well, the belt is nice and tensioned, is this an issue?

Also where do people mount there coil?

Cheers

Are you using the EF/EL Alternator?

Mount the coil off the AC Compressor.

Cheers for the quick reply mate,

I'm using AU III alternator.... I'm guessing you need to grind the spaces so the a/c pipes clear the body of car?

If the Belt fit then all is fine. Seems unusual that the AU Belt fits up.

Is it a old belt or new?

Just how tensioned is the belt?

I have two belts one is relatively new and one has been on there for years, and they both fit, the belt is tensioned so you can just twist it half over.

Cheers

monitor where the belt tensioner is with the belt ON, then take the belt off, how much tensioner play is there? ie how far can it move to "tension" the belt if it was on, if it still has tension left with your belt I would assume it would be fine?

Don't know XH colour coding, could be Oil Pressure Switch/Sender or the wire to the noise supressor (static)

Pink wire goes to spade terminal on starter motor, had this drama after a engine swap then realised it goes on the starter.

Hi guys, Just wondering what are the advantages to swaping an AU into the EL? Also I see alot of people talking about swaping the heads aswel, are the EL heads better? Does this mean I build an AU with an EL head for a good engine? This is stage 1 im planning, stage 2 will be a turbo but thats a long way off atm. Thanks for your time :D

Are you talking about just using the engine or are you looking at swapping loom/ecu/etc as well?

Hi SWC (GOD)it seems , i'm in the planning stage, as a mate is letting me pay-off this 97 wagon...only way the boss at home will let me get another ford...i'm not sure what to take, thats where the first question came from but I do want to turbo at a later date so I want to do it in steps...If it's better to make an AU conversion with loom/comp now, I would do that as I only got one chance of spending on this...but if I can use the guide above with out the loom change and turbo later with still no loom change then thats even sweeter! BTW are you able to make a thread on how to put and au into a e* with plans to turbo later including short cuts like adding oil return feeder in sump when modifying for K member etc...

Thank you for feed-back all

Red wire goes to the Starter Motor. Thats the colour on an EF as well as AU.

EL must be different then, mine that runs to the starter is pink, (unless its somehow faded with lack of sunlight) lol

Engine on TDC COMPRESSION stroke, put dizzy in with rotor facing number one. Or if you have a Bosch dizzy, put it in facing "finish" then as you push it down to completely mate with the gears it will rotate slightly to "start".
