My AU i have had for 3 months now and every now and then it will crank and crank but wont start. Any Ideas? Please help. I took the thing into ford while it was still under its waranty but they couldn't find a fault. Im a very mechanically minded person and am qualified in mechanics and electrical and i cant work out what it is. Any help is better than nothing.

Simplify the problem to checking for fuel and spark. It might be getting no fuel, indicating a dodgy fuel pump or relay, dirt/block in the lines or filter, or even a faulty power feed to the injectors. It could be weak or no spark, indicating once again an electrical fault, suspect coil, or possibly shot spark plugs.
When it happens next time, stop cranking after a while and remove a spark plug. If it is wet with fuel your not getting spark. If it is dry your probably not getting fuel. Is there anything particular about the time is doesnt start? - for example, only when the engine is warm, only when the engine is stone cold.

there's an AU ute that does a similar thing down here - if it won't start (only happens on a hill!) roll it to the flat and it'll fire without a problem
