Timing cover for the EF and AU are the same where the sump bolts up.
Difference with the AU Engine is the rear main cap which has a smaller outer dimension which means that there is a gap between the cap and the EF/EL sump where the gasket goes. Also you can't use the crossbolts from the AU when using the EF/EL Sump therefore loosing some of the bottom end strength. |

You had the sump off already...
You should've just got it modded for $100 bucks like I did and be done with it... Least you don't loose any strength.. That's one of the main factors of going an AU donk.. I was under the impression the EL sump wouldn't go on at all.. But apparently you've done it so it's possible.. I just don't see why.. Lol

Check O2 sensor and fuel pressure regulator. - to start with.

If O2 sensor is over 100k km old - throw it away, and replace it with a new one,
And the fuel pressure reg - suck on the vacuum hose on top of it, if you taste/smell petrol the diaphram inside is ruptured - new reg required

Also, check the vac line going to the MAP sensor on the firewall, common to crack and will cause car to run rich and like a dog.
Otherwise, coolant temp sensor, air intake temp sensor, map sensor itself,

Mate, I have been doing these conversions for years. There is a significant gap at the rear main if using the EF/EL sump un an AU bottom end.
The only way to overcome this is to use the rear main cap from an EL Hybrid and have it line bored to match the rest of the mains or use a filler plate (or has been done in the past by others, fill the gap with silicon). The EF oil drive as you call it is actually the Cam Sensor which also drives the oil pump as does the dizzy in EA-ED and EL. You don't need to use the EF timing case as the AU one is fine. Shoot us the pics of the bottom end and sump and we can check it out. |
