You need to modify the crossmember so that there is enough clearance for the sump, and also get the dizzy running in the AU motor so that it will work with your ECU.
I don't think there will be any issues with the gearbox, but a bit of fiddlign around with the motor.

Finally worked out the quote button :D

As far as the motor change goes I have documented my motor change here , it refers to an EF but most would be applicable to you.

I am still working on the knock sensor though, it pings a little on Petrol but OK on LPG, I think the AU sensor characteristics are different from the EF one. The only other difference is the EL's distributor, that shouldn't be to much of a drama though.

Also there is a thread or two on the subject that has been posted here in recent times.
Cheers

The dissy should not be a problem, the AU motor has a dummy shaft to drive the oil pump, it should be a simple job to remove this and replace it with the EL distributor (timing aside), one thing that might complicate this is the clamp position has changed from EF/EL to AU from back to the front (at least the one I did)

Cheers Tw.

Possible maybe, it would give you Sequential injection and allow you to retain the coil pack and other AU motor sensors but I would think you would run into Cluster / Smartlock and other issues which may make this not an attractive proposition. I don't have any experience here, others may be able to give you more accurate advise on this.

you could but would require alot of work for little benifit if you had a ef then it would be a matter of replacign the ecu and the engine and thats all.
sine you have EL you will have to chop/change the AU loom to get it all to work... then u could use the coil pack.: )
best bet would be to put the AU engine into the EL with a dizzy

I have revised my documentation, if you are referring to it on your conversion then you need the EF knock sensor.

EF and EL would be the same unit I would think.

Cheers
