Don't just use a hammer, use a bigger one.

I think the gearbox is dead, I think because the torque convertor was not in place properly when they fitted it and then forced on to the motor it just pressed back on to the face of the gearbox and siezed it so I have given up on this box so will have to look for another one, See cheap cars arent always what they appear to be thats why i would rather make sure its all ok before its resold.

IF ANYONE HAS A CHEAP BOX IN QLD PLEASE LET ME KNOW EF AUTO WILL DO.

im not sure on the setup on the btr 4speeds, but when u put the convertor back into a c4 trans, u need to turn the converter around 2 or so full turns to engage the oil pump drive . just give it a little pressure towards the trans while turning it over and it drops back in perfectly when its lined up
watch out for your fingers getting jammed on the bellhousing too.

i helped out a mate that did the same thing on his valkiant a few years ago and it had no drive, pulled it out and fitted it back in the way i described above and once back together it was all good. hopefully they didnt do any damage to the trans or convertor

good luck

The convertor goes in 3 clicks - input shaft, stator shaft & pump drive gear. If the guy has bolted it together without the convertor being in properly, The pump drive gear will be broken - Time for a new pump or another trans...

Yeah it does look like its broken you can see the convertor goes in and around the side of them are all damaged so yes i think is definately another gearbox.
