Hi guys, I need some advice. My step-father is painting a mates AU ute. I think it is a series one (going by the bonnet) late '99-early 2000 model, 4.0/auto. It started and drove fine for ages, but last weekend it decided not to start for us. The fuel pump can be heard running, and there is spark at the plugs (tested with one of the inline spark tester gizmos) and it cranks over fine, it just wont fire at all.
It has had the rear alloy tray removed, along with the front bumper, headlights, etc. But it was starting OK with these bits all removed, for over a week. Now nothing. Any ideas? How do I check/test the crank angle sensor? Cheers, Grant.

It was an alloy tray, with the tank under it.... ashcook wrote: Also, not important, but all utes in series 1,2,3 used the series one bonnet. Cool, good to know. I was told maybe the BCM might be the problem. Anyone?

OK, cool. It is cranking, so where should I look next? I would like to be able to check the crank angle sensor, but I have no experience with these, and no spare to try. Any ideas?
