if you can get it under $400 it think it would be worth it..

but only having 79,000km and blowing a head gasket seems alittle premature!! must have been something wrong??

there is a wrecker in syd that are selling au xr6 intech engines for $700 complete with between 70,000 and 120,000kms..

so that should give you an idea??

I would jus get a AU engine without a blown head gasket. The XR6 only has little bit bigger valves which do s**t all and a so called better cam.

I guess if you fix the one you have now might be a good excuse to "fix" a few other things in there like port 'n' pollish the head bigger cam ect...

Maybe it has been overheated before, and warped the head. Might of had cracked hose or somthing and person has drivin it to far with no water, who knows.

actually with the au the std head has the same size valves as the tickford head..
the difference is i think the springs and head chamber..

valve springs, port shape, camshaft.

i'd also like to know why the engine make more power, not just peak power but far more power under the curve, if it all does s**t all?

If its comin straight out the exhaust chances are the heads cracked around the exhaust valve. Youll hafta try pretty hard to blow a gasket in an AU. If its a gasket, the bottom end will be damaged for sure. It will have been cooked.

You put the standard exhaust back on the xr6 and you get 162kw which is what a fairmont ghia is. wow a whole 5kw difference to a stocki. They alos have a bigger snorkle which is probly 1kw.

the cam does a little of that work, has a better profile for a broader curve rather than a narrow band like the stocker. Head flow is marginal, the 300kpa reg gives a little more juice under load (giving 11% more injector capacity at same duty cycle over the 270kpa). its the ecu tune tying all these tidbits together that give the sweet curve that the tickford engine has. stock falcons have a shocking tune. the xr tunes are a little tighter, because the owners are more likely to look after the car. a stock au motor with a good custom flash tune will put out the same as an xr motor according to brendan mock.

its the diff that makes it hammer though.

thats a dyno with a unichip to a stock falcon, it makes the same as the xr6 if not more.

not really, he is an arrogant tosser but he knows a lot more about the falcon 6 than you and I put together. Ill be the first to say their stuff is overpriced, but it does work. and the AU does suffer from a shocking tune in factory form, for protection, NVH and economy. You can let your feelings get in the way of your good judgement though if you want.
