Hey guys ive being looking through the forums and since im planning on doing a engine conversion on my car i thought id ask a question. firstly i need the car changed to my name so if i get the au xr6 engine into my car would my car pass a roadworthy same goes with the el... also how much would it cost to actualy get one of these engines fitted ? i dont have much time to spend doing it myself since i work 6 days a week.

Doesnt really matter what one you go for. Should pass RWC.

I've heard that the best 4ltr is a AU bottom end with a EL XR6 head

dont forget that au's and el's are set up for sepentine belt systems
where are ea's arent

and u have to shave the heat sinks of the au sump to fit in to a ea

ok looked around abit the au xr6 engines go for around 700 - 1000 road tested with 6 months warrenty now the el engines go from 400 - 600 now its all down to the installing as i have seing a guide to putting a au engine into a ea on the forums before im just wondering how much a machanic would roughly charge for the job... i got abit of cash to spend i got the ea for free after i put my supercharged vs through a wall :( anyway yeh the engine blew and i need to replace it soon and spending a couple of g's to get it running at this point wont worry me

another place is charging $400 , but they both here in adelaide , maybe you'll

ba "twincam" sounds so japanese or toyota espically, stick with its name "dual vct" sounds much better.

it ended up costing me a fortune puting an au in mine. and i ended up cuting the crossmember. ask yourself if your ready to spend that much first. and also modify the sump so u dont have to bend the crossmember
