Leads are pretty new, plugs in few weeks ago, full service etc... Seems to be worse when the engine's hot though. Maybe coolant temp sensor?

Changed the fuel filter today, was told it had been done when I bought it. Car still had original though. Made a huge improvement on startup but still not 100%. Doesnt take as long to kick over, but still splutters 1 in 5 times. The fuel filter plug in side (inlet) didnt match up to any new filters though (tried 3). Cut the plastic female clip off and used a screw clamp instead with the line over the inlet.

During the week changed fuel filter, took all the inlet piping off and cleaned with carby cleaner as well as the throttle body, new air filter and a tank of premium and added some injector cleaner to the mix.
seems to have sorted out the problem now..

On the weekend i pulled off and cleaned the throttle body which really wasnt very dirty, ran 2 tanks of pulp with injector cleaner over the last week, checked the leads, but still at times takes 2-3 goes to actually have the car fire up properly????????????????

I had a very similar problem to this, and I found out it was the Ignition Coil (after it shat itself on the city-west-link one night.)

Might not be relevent, (as I have an EL, with Dizzy) but perhaps change/check Coilpack if all your other fixes don't work?

apparently its the idle control sensor (i think that wat i was told)..

prob take the throttle body off and the sensors off it, clean them all separately, then re-assemble..

that's what i'd do lol

Checked the spark 1 lead at a time today and theres no problem there, so im guessing the coilpack and leads are ok. The sensor on top of the throttle body was cleaned already. Next check the injectors i think. The fuel filter was pretty bad when I changed it.
