Well depends if i wanted to sell it. If i spend 10k+ on a car i aint selling it. Saying that i spent about 10k on my EB1 fairmont and it got written off. and i got 3.5K insurance now that hurt.

Haha the many paths this thread has taken.. talk about chain of conversation..

It used to be something about an R33 vs an AU

Off topic, but kinda not...

Saturday night my mate had a tussle with a WRX.

The Rex was being a smart a*** - drove next to us while we were driving and then took off.

Two sets of lights later, there was Rexy boy, sitting at the lights.
I begged my mate to pull up next to him and have a crack.
Lights went green.
Mate was in front from 0-30 by nearly a car length, and by a nose at 70.
He pulled out after that - speed limit was 60.

His car.
A fully stock, auto 4.0 litre EF with 4 up.

It was bloody beautiful.
I wanted mate to follow him so I could mouth him.
It would have been worth the beating just to let Rexy know that a stock, auto Falcon had him to 70.

And YES the Rex was having a go.

Lies. must have been stuck in third.

Thats pretty close minded, instantly labeling it as lies. It might well be, but you are about as knowledgable as to what went down as the next bloke.

1- A bad driver in the sooby is my first thought. Ive seen doods in skylines and soobies take litteraly seconds to find their gears. Waiting for the sound of their blowoffs to peter out methinks. They must think it makes em sound fast.

2- if he was stuck in third, the gearbox is a ferkin heap, and the car is a ferkin heap, so therefore a legitimate win to the falci.

we have no valid reason to believe downingj is a liar.

Your Ford will get itself blown away strait away off the line. An R33 GTST manual stock does 0-100 in 6.18secs and the autos are around a flat 7. Modded ones even are faster. I have an el fairmont ghia with tickford red engine, lsd, extractors, filter, exhaust and i get blown to crap anytime i try and ive run plenty of cars and i usually do well. If its a non turbo different story. GTRs do 0-100 in 4.9 stock. They can be tweaked to perform better so easily unlike the ford. Ive driven my mates r33 and it hammers, made me wish i hadnt got the overweight, slow, fuel hungry, ford.

How can you compare a badly geared heavy NON turbo 6 cylinder to a car like that. Bolt a f**k turbo on your falcon.

or get a F6 typhoon and tweak that.

Yeh thats like saying a WRX will jump an auto CFI 3.2l EA off the line. O RLY??

"Modded ones even are faster" thats generally the point.

Thread mining FTL.

have you ever watched the CASTLE? tell him hes dreamin...

The stock skyline r33 turbo runs 0-400m in 14.4secs, AU XR6 = 15.8secs.

Its an easy easy win to the skyline.

not saying AU XR is no good but too big too strong to take him on.

Hey,

not many stock skylines going around. theres always the boost fiddles and intercooler on them. shouldnt have much trouble dispatching an AU XR6.

But if I were buying a car id buy the AU XR6 over the R33, not because its quicker but because its a bloody good car overall. Unless you get a GTR, the skylines are poverty cars and cost a million dollars to fix anything.
