I have an AU1 XR6 which has problems starting when cold. The Starter motor will just continually turn without kicking the motor over. Sometimes, the motor is trying to fire up, but can't get enough revs to completely fire, and hence just dies again.

I think it may be a fuel related problem, as it seems like it's starving, and if i give it throttle it doesn't really make a difference so there is probably enough air getting in.

The guys who have been on the cruises with me will know the car is always serviced and well looked after, so i don't know if that helps narrow it down.

Any input would be great guys so i don't get stuck at work in the afternoon

cheers,
Matt

mmm so does the starter motor actually turn the motor over or does it just whir? ie the starter motot spins revs really high ? this is the solenoid not engaging the ring gear
if so then the starter motor solenoid is d**k and u will need to replace it
any ford 6 cyl starter motor will fit from xt i think onwards to AU :)

Thanks mate will give it a try.

yeah starter motor just spins and revs really high....

i have a warranty on the car, similar thing happened once before but they re-programmed the computer. Fixed it for a couple of weeks and that's it.

I will try your idea, can't wait two weeks for an opening at ford

cheers,
matt
