Took the batt out to charge it cos it was flat it was winding over but not enough to fire, put it back in charged it wouldn't crank so I jumped on and searched the forums found plenty of info but now I am a little confused, is it immobilised if when the key is in the on position the jewel on the dash is solid or does it flash rapidly ? Mine stays solid does that mean the key and bem have code issues?

Leave the key in the ACC position for 1 hour & see if it cranks then...

Also just incase make sure the auto is in N or P.

Sometimes slapping the BEM will also help it get unstuck - dont ask me why

This is not right for AU-II as they run smartshield security not the earlier smartlock...

Can't help you with the jewel behaviour...

If you have two keys coded to the vehicle than you add others... Have you tried your second key?

If you don't have the master key then it's a troublesome task... If you only have the master key then Ford can add other keys easy...

Cheers,
Tim

Worlds of difference...

Smartlock was from eb-2 to au-1 and smartshield was from au-2 to bf I think...

Smartlock was the barrel was coded to the Smartlock module.
Smartshield was the key was coded to the BEM

Smartshield cars were sold with a master and slave key. The master was essential for the easy addition of keys. There is just sequence of events that bring it into learning mode. If you don't already have two keys Ford is required to plug into your car, get a series of out codes and upload them to Ford, Ford sends in codes back... You have a couple of mins to add the keys...

Smartlock was dumb. Any key that turns the barrel will start they car. Nay, any object that turns the barrel will start the car... To program the barrel the the car. You leave the key on for half an hour. If a criminal has been barrel and key and half an hour its real easy. Hence most of us have other kill switches...

Remotes all program the same right through...

Cheers,
Tim

Two keys are ideal... I'd get a second cut and get Ford to program both the the car again...

Cheers,
Tim

Leave the key in it for 30 mins to satisfy old mate... Once it's immobilised there isn't many options mate... No one but Ford can get into an au-2 or onward... It's gonna need diagnosis... See if the road side assist will do it as one of your included tows?

This is why I own an ed...

Cheers,
Tim

No roadside assist, the car is unregisted and I am trying to sell it a guy who was real keen came to look over it when this all happened, he is still keen but doesn't want to buy a car that's immobilized :)

Will it work?
