I'm having some transmission problems with my AU series 3 XR6 auto. I've just had some head work done a mild cam work done which included, a reground cam, vernier cam gear, full head service, heavy duty, valve springs & over size exhaust valves, plus minor porting and a sct x3 tune. having only driven the car twice it car is now experiencing transmission problems. when the car is accelerating the trans shifts through all 4 gears, however when you release your foot from the accelerator to let the car coast down in speed no matter what speed you are going the trans then begins to kick down. even though the car has been tuned the trans acted this way with the trans shifts adjusted with the tune and also when the trans shifts were change back to standard shifts. Does anyone know what may be cause the trans to act in this meaner? help would be greatly appreciated.

the only thing I can put it down to is that because having these engine mods done that it is now creating the transmission to run to high in temp. as I do not have a trans cooler.

im confused, what ecu are you running to adjust the gear changes??
or did you just raise the rev limiter??

from what i can understand i think you have a problem with your torque converter.

when the car was flash tuned the gear shifts were adjusted through the factory ecu. that is when the trans started to play up as mentioned above. so the ecu was flashed again to adjusted the gear shifts back to their standard or factory shift pattern.

yes cjh it is an adaptive shift.

The Adaptive shift has 5 shift patterns to pick from depending on how it is driven at the time ( throttle opening ).
The std auto has 2 shift patterns, chosen by a switch....power-economy.

yeh, its got nothing to do with the adaptive shift system.

when slowing down coasting with out the foot on the throttle the transmission begins to kick down in gears. So you will be driving along doing 60km/h with the about 1000rpms then let your foot off the throttle the speed coasts to 40km/h and the transmission decides to kick back a gear with the rpms going from 1000rpm to 3000rpm when it decides to kick down. this is when the trans mission then relises that you are not on the throttle and the rpms drop back down to normal.

its really weird the way that it is behaving, hopefully my local transmission specialist will be able to source the cause of this problem and get it all fixed up.
