Can anyone tell me the point of a timing mark on the aux shaft for a car with a distributor?
I am thinking that at no1 TDC compression, when the cam sprocket and crank sprocket are correctly positioned then the aux shaft can be anywhere....long as the dizzy slots in with the rotor pointing to no 1.

yes that is right as its not a balaned or timed shaft..
but if its in an au with the cam angle sensor in use, it does matter.. but as your fitting a a dizzy it dont really matter where the aux shaft is positioned as its only driving the oil pump and you can position the dizzy in the correct spot.. aslong as its on tdc compression stroke its fine.. |

Yep... Just make 100% sure you line up the timing marks for the cam and crank, otherwise possible ouchies!
Is yours a straight EL, or a hybrid? |
