hi i read from troyman that the original auxillary shaft in the au engine will fail eventually if i have a distributor put in and use a distributor and coil that the ed model uses instead of coil packs used in the au models.
can someone please give me a deffinate confirmation on if the original au engine auxillary shaft will fail eventually after i put a distributor in as troyman had auxillary shaft trouble and i want to get a second opinion |

dissy or no dissy makes no difference as the aux shaft still runs the oil pump.

In the e-series(EA,EB,ED,EL) there is a different part used to strengthen the aux shaft. Talk too ford, different part numbers or something!
Read on another forum, ford mechanic posted the info.

i've been unlucky, had two of the allen key shafts fail, in too different motors, !!!
I think its one thing ford could do better... on the V8 ones, its the same thing, but they have two different size allen key shafts, one is thinner than the other !!! so if u put the wrong one in, it rattles about!!! Laticia ..
