ok, i posted a topic a few months ago about my fuel consumption and now finally having the cargo on a long drive i have had it down to 10.6L/100k's and got nearly 700 k's out of it.wanted to know how economical other peoples cars are on trip and around town. around town since i have been back it hasn't gone over 12l per 100.i should get just over 350 to a tank around town but i will see tomorrow.when i need to fill up, i still need an oxy but when i can afford it.

On my BA XR6, during normal city driving, my computer will float around 13.8-14.0 L/100Km. Hence, I'll usually get about 450Km to the tank.
Back in April, I took my car for a fishing trip about 200KM out of Adelaide and back, and got just under 400Km to HALF a tank. It's amazing what a difference cruise control makes to your cars consumption. |

My XR6T did 9.2L/100km on a country trip. Interestingly BA's seem to get noticably better fuel consuption when you use the cruise control - I think it might lean out to mixture slightly or something like that.

fnp, its becuase the computer knows how much throttle to give so ur not on/off the throttle all the time
around town i get 12.6l/100 over the last few thousand kays, but on country trips at 100 i reset it and get around 8 or so litres per 100 |

when having these discussions i'm a firm believer in posting average km/h as well as l/100km as they go hand in hand. someone driving in peak hour is never going to acheive the same as someone like me for example, who does shift work and rarely in traffic. just because you read 2 - 4l/100km more than someone else doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong.
on the highway it is not such an issue. my ef xr6 wagon (manual) used to get about 930km on the highway. my ba gets about 850 on the highway. i also believe you will achieve much better economy WITHOUT cruise on. cruise cannot SEE. if there is a hill, it will only speed up once you have already started up it and it will also try to maintain the set speed, even dropping down gears if it has too. without cruise you can see the rise so you can gently increase your speed 5-10kph to allow for it and as you near the top, if your speed is tailing off, just let it go. who cares if it drops back to 90kph instead of 100kph. its not a race.

I think my trip comp says just under 12 atm,but its been wet so ive been giving it some stick :p I think average speed maybe 30-40kms, cant remember.
Just highway driving it drops to about 6.something. I drove to brisbane, then all around brisbane for a few days, did 380kms, off 30 litres. I was happy. |

I wished i got the worst you guys get.
I average 35l/100k around town, and am lucky to see 200k per tank city driving. On the highway it can be pushed and nursed to 350k a tank. But what do you expect with a loose stall(3000rpm) 3.9 gears and the thing weighing in at 1700kg. Brett
