i had the same problem with a bf tonner only getting 500Ks out of a 80 litre tank that`s 50/50 city highway driving put it on the dyno and plugged in the OBD2 and all the sensors were fine but it had 12:1 AFRs on cruising got a CAPA Flash tune and the AFRs went straight to 14.5:1 under load and 15.5:1 on cruising

Thanks for the reply guys, I got a BA XR6 with a sports exhaust, headers and high-flow cat. Cold air intake and performance filter.
I have replaced the O2 sensor but it made no difference. If the car is driven slowly the fuel consumption is reasonable. If you give it a boot full you get a cloud of black smoke from the back (not burning oil) Exhaust tips are black. Average Km per tank full @350 Kms. One peculiar thing when the car is cold especially in the morning, it has a tendency to bog /sluggish and at times it will back fire from the air intake. (air leak). Once it warms up no issue with the back fire/pre-ignition Plugs have been changed. Cheers JM

I just cleaned the throttle body, added some injector cleaner and gave some of the inlet manifold bolts a slight tweak. I don't think that it will make a dramatic difference but it a start. Some one else I know is getting 12lt/100 on a stock BA, I'm 4Ltr worse.
Cheers JM

hmm, i get about 450km to a tank with moderate to vigorous driving. that backfiring issue is very strange and I'd guess would have something to do with it. Try resetting the ECU. If that doesnt improve anything, see if ford can plug it in and see what shows up in diagnostics, your answer would most certainly lie there.

Hi Smiley !. I have already taken it to Ford to check the system. No fault codes were evident from the diagnostics. I have not reset the ECU
What is the process for doing an ECU reset ? Thanks JM

just have to interrupt power to it. So disconnect the battery for about half an hour, see if that helps.
