Alright, just doing a bit of research here, I'm fairly familiar with common problems associated with X Series and E Series Falcons, but what problems do BA's and BF's usually get? I've heard of Diff bushes, but what else?

Ok.. Lets say my BA is pretty good maybe because i dont give it a hard time but to name a few.
1. Handbrakes need constant adjusting. 2. Disc shudder is common. 3. Diff bushes yes mainly on Turbo and XR8. Ive done mine once. 4. Look for rust. 5. Heater shafts known for breaking. Dash out repair. Ive not had this issue yet. 6. Roof lining known to sag. 7. Seat bases known to crack. 8. Auto trans cooler known to fail and coolant kills auto. No issues with mine and no ext cooler on mine. Probably heaps more but every car has issues. Touch wood mine has been great but mind you when i bought it was still almost new and im very fussy with it. Others have had bad luck. Would i buy another B series ? Yes but maybe id go a BFII Ghia. Getting old lol.

Disc shudder is common. Diff bushes. tail shaft centre bearing Look for rust. Heater shafts known for breaking. Dash out repair. Roof lining known to sag. Seat bases known to crack Auto trans cooler known to fail and coolant kills auto.. Icc and bem problems ignition barrel spring is known to break or the barrel just falls apart. door trim inner handles are weak as piss and will break if your not careful power steering hose leaks. its at the age now where the coils probably need changing, if they already havnt been done imo i would not own another one and would not recommend a b series if you want trouble free motoring.. |
