My brother had a problem whilst driving down from Darwin in his BA. Was running rough and using lots of fuel. Coffey ford in Dandenong rectified the problem, 2 coils/spark plugs and the engine mapping was out. A poor service and steam cleaning of the engine caused it from a dodgy dealership in Darwin. Coffey Ford did an excellent job and only charged $90, they even washed and vacumed the car.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I was told about a year after the BA cam out that all teh ECUs logged info like how many times you've hit the revv limiter, speed limiter ect ect ect.
So that Ford could pull those figues out of the ECU and say "Sorry, warranty void. You've hit the revv limiter 2534 times in 5000km from new" Does anyone know if that's true? |

I do think there is a difference between 'finding the limits of your car' and 'sitting on the rev limiter' though. a few times would be ok, but all the time is just asking for trouble.

i guess small brain small thoughts dont get me wrong im a fordman through and through but dont ya think its a bit of a problem when an engine doesnt even last 5000 k's have any of yous ever seen an older falcon with these sort of probs when they were new all engines no matter how good the manufacturer will have an accasional problem. ask any old school ford spare parts person whos been around since the xy's they had GT motors lined up for warranty replacements. not many GT,s with the original engine they were built with , a lot of them had an engine replace early in their lives. and we wont mention all the clutches that were replaced |

Agreed as well... Just stupid to s**t the whole BA/BF range on 3 bad ones... But maybe his dealership has only sold like 5 BA/BF's so far... In which case, his claim would be entirely valid. |

the only think i have herd of that has been bad was the diff, oh and the brake shuttering and bonnet cable..
the bosses xr6t at work has had 2 new diffs its all good now, and most of the ba's at work snapped the bonnet cable and a few of the series 1 ba's had that shuttering problem but it was fixed too all new cars have problems although my sisters car had the weridest problem at one point it just wouldnt start, or start then run bad, or stall. Ford did something with the computer and its ran fine since |

Ford are selling over 3000 stock BA's a month. Not including Utes or FPV's etc. And if there was an engine problem such as the one described at the top of this thread, I think it'd be news worthy. I haven't heard anything. And the way they tested that friggin engine before it went into the BA, I doubt there's any serious problems going on.
IMO, I think the subject title of this thread might have to be retitled, it's um....a bit extreme, inflamatory even |

http://www.mypage.tsn.cc/dave/Documents/water_pump.htm thats basically a copy of the ford tsb on the fix for the water pump leak, and after i think mid 04 (dont quote me on the date) they changed the design of the pump and pipe. Do you know if the new BA or BF pump fit the EF/EL's ? |
