from what i've seen these problems at low K's have been a result of hard driving when new, but thats always a easy cop out, so who knows

let me tell u ive worked at a high volume dealership since a year after BA's came out. Ive seen 2-3 with welsh plugs, one that had no compression due to a problem with the VCT Phasers (which turned out to be incorrect oil from last service, drained the oil over night, removed and cleaned phasers, refilled with correct grade of oil and it started first go). We used to sell 25-30 BA's a month so to only have seen a handful of problems like u describe hardly makes it a big problem... check your facts before u speak of a problem which u can only name 3 examples of

the big problems with BA's are the bonnet cables, hardly anything to get too upset about though lol. and the ever lasting coolant/water pump leak lol

actually the water pump leak has been fixed, and if the car is serviced at ford the bonnet cable problem is rectified by a latch adjustment as part of a service... http://www.mypage.tsn.cc/dave/Documents/water_pump.htm thats basically a copy of the ford tsb on the fix for the water pump leak, and after i think mid 04 (dont quote me on the date) they changed the design of the pump and pipe. other problems i've seen are rattles in the engine pipes (5 or so, and a handful of territories), turbo manifolds coming loose coz they havent been checked at every service (which the book says is part of every service), brake shudder (big problem on pre 11/2003 build BA's), and i've seen maybe 5 heater cores (dash out job) |

yeah i know, the latch is the problem more that the cable. we still get a few water pump leaks though
