I have been told that if you put on an aftermarket exhaust on a ba/bf falcon xr6 turbo without an edit/flash tune the car goes into limp mode.Is this accurate and if so does this happen with all ba/bf falcons.

in theory it could happen but i dont see why it would. Its not like a turbo will need back presssure.

I think some guys have been putting the aftermarket exhaust on and getting up to 40rwkw cause the computer realises it can de better..... BUT I DONT KNOW im just going by what i have heard.

i cant see a 40rwkw gain from JUST and exhaust, u would have to get it tuned to see that big of an increase. maybe 5-10kw, but the standard exhaust (if u add a high flow cat) is good for 350rwkw.

i am pretty sure u have more chance of getting overboost from adding a big intercooler than limp home mode with an exhuast. :)

Not true. I ran my XR6T with an exhaust for 3 months and 10 thousand ks without a hint of trouble.

hey i can reassure u wont get any limp from ur BA. i have extractors hi flow cat and 2.5 inch system on my temporarily not yet "TUNED" XT. first week after install she was as sluggish as a slug to put it bluntly while the ecu was reprogramming itself due to the changes.

However 2 weeks later till now 6 months on > i have no probs at all, in fact increases in power and torque noticed greatly and it sounds awesome.

wheen zoom was building their xr6t they put a much larger cat on a untuned xr6t and it went into limp home.

Some exhausts/cats will send XR6Ts into limp mode without a custom tune. I have heard that changing the cat on BF 6 cyl can send them into limp mode.
