Thats the way Im looking at it.
I already had a turbo and external wastegate which is better than the standard setup. The $3500 price difference can do towards rods and pistons. |

well... i've been doing as much research as possible into running the standard ecu... i think i've found the answer.. getting the standard ecu edited.. to run JUST the motor.. and using my EA ecu to run everything else in the car..
i'm looking at doing my conversion overr the xmas/new year period.. depending on prices of a few things i have to get for wiring the car... i have my complete motor sitting here waiting to go in... |

Sweet Eu-GenixX...if you manage to figure out how to start the engine up without problems =D would be awesome to pass the info down. I haven't had the chance to speak to my mechanics yet because I've been working...found myself a job .
Anyways I have been contemplating with an XR6T...but I prefer to stick with the NA for now and later on I can put a better aftermarket turbo in. cheers phong =P~

Putting a turbo on a NA DOHC isn't as good as getting a turbo DOHC.

The NA engines compression ratio is much higher.

Nah the gearbox isnt bolted up yet.
I tilted the engine forward and it doesnt make much difference to the height. My sump is coming off tomorrow so the gearbox and everything should be in on the weekend. |

it just clears the bonnet (with a slight re-mould of 1 of the bonnet ribs) hooks up using the AU coil pack , and most AU accessories. no cutting of wiring looms it all just plug together , some brakets need to be made for water pipes, accel cable and a/c pump new hose needs to be made for power steering . this is a engine change that could be done in a weekend
