This is why you have a warranty..
Did they replace the entire box or repair it? If it was repaired they may not have found the actual cause fot it to leak. |

Write straight to Ford customer relations and mention you have been talking to one of the Current affair shows and see how fast you get some action!!!

Saw posting on a site a good while back saying that the machining work (done at the factory that builds these for ford) was a bit s**t and that the dayshift guys were a bit how yer goin. Not sure if it was rumour or fact.

Yeh well, hate to say but i hafta agree
Our XR6T has seen the ford service division more times than it has our driveway. Every hose on it has popped off, leaking fuel tank, now leaking diff, warped discs....not too impressed at all. great when it goes....pitty that isnt too often tho In all fairness, i should point out that ours was one of the first batch made, and a lot of these 'small problems' have now been fixed and are unable (or so we're told) to pop up in later models

What we need in australia is "lemon laws" as they have in the USA.
That should better protect us from poor quality cars and encourage manufacturers to get their processes sorted out before selling to the public. Don't be beta testers - write to current affairs and your polly and demand some action. Cheers. |

its sad to hear this with ba s as ive heard of quite a few with auto problems just the other day i was speaking to a rep who only got 8k out of his auto,as for brake shudder i havnt heard of a ba owner who HASNT had this problem! ford should be doing eberything possible to keep these people happy as this was the car that saved ford a**,everyone told me i should have got a ba when i got my au,the ba looks better for sure but i think i made the right choice not that the au is a perfect car either, ford really needs to look at its after sales service

I see you've got a ute with a towbar. The logic of this sometimes escapes me as people rarely buy a vehicle designed to haul goods around and then use a trailer instead of the tray.
But, if you're one of those people who do legitimately need the 1 tonne tray and need another tonne in the trailer behind you then this could be adding to your problems... especially if your driving is 'spirited'. After all, if you're booting all that torque through the transmission lugging around 1700kg of ute, 1000kg in the tray and another 1000kg in a trailer (3700kg all up) then the gearbox will be spending s**t loads more time in the lower gears under a much higher load than compared to a sedan. Like it or not cars have never been over-engineered to last the next 4 ice ages and they never will be. Ford aren't going to design a gearbox to withstand the forces imposed on it by the 0.01% of drivers that tow 4t with it. They design the gearbox to withstand the forces imposed upon it by the 99.99% of drivers. Over-engineering the gearbox adds cost to the car, adds weight to the car which increases fuel usage and makes it harder for Ford to meet the emission requirements which further adds cost to the car. If you're regularly pulling along heavy loads then a shorter diff ratio migh ease the strain on the gearbox. That's perhaps something to consider. |
